New publication on environmental food security + site update
Launched in Nairobi, Kenya at the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) Governing Council in February 2009 - this new report highlights the linkages between global change, economy and food security. The Environmental Food Crisis - The Environment's Role in Averting Future Food Crises summarizes our existing knowledge, as well as a comprehensive analysis of the mechanisms around past, current and future food production. The report notes that up to 25% of the world’s food production may become lost due to environmental issues by 2050 unless action is taken.
Hugo Ahlenius of Nordpil served as the graphics editor and head cartographer and illustrator of this report, and worked closely with the head author and editorial team in researching and preparing the necessary maps, charts and diagrams that capture the core messages of the report - and communicate them in a clear way to a global audience.
