Africa is one of the regions that will be hit the hardest by climate change, and it will likely slow down - or inhibit - the progress we have been seeing. The projected changes for possible changes in agriculture are not very clear. Please note that this map does not show existing agricultural land, actual current land use might be different.

Map prepared for the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) publication The Environmental Food Crisis - the environment's role in averting future food crises, published in 2009.

Map prepared from illustration in a scientific report. Data was re-interpreted and set to match existing background data to complete the map.

ESRI ArcGIS and Adobe Illustrator was used to prepare the map.
